- Switch to Linux: If you're not ready to replace your PC and have the technical know-how, you can uninstall Windows 10 and install Linux. Be prepared for potential challenges during the transition to a new operating system.
- Upgrade Using a Technical Loophole: Even if your PC failed the initial compatibility check, you might still upgrade it by making a small registry edit and ensuring it uses Secure Boot with the Trusted Platform Module (TPM). - Pay for Extended Security Updates (ESUs): Microsoft announced in December 2023 that it will offer subscription-based ESUs for Windows 10 for up to three years. The cost for businesses starts at $61 for the first year and increases to $122 and $244 in subsequent years. Educators receive a significant discount, with costs starting at $1. Keep in mind these updates are cumulative and don't include technical support.
- Purchase a New PC: If your current device is outdated, buying a new PC compatible with Windows 11 is a viable option. New computers generally offer improved speed, security, and productivity. Ensure you back up your data regularly to avoid losing important information.
